Prerna Bishnoi er fra India og har en Mastergrad fra Kunstakademiet i Trondheim, NTNU, og en grad i digital video-produksjon fra Srishti institute of Art, Design and Technology i Bangalore. Hun bor og jobber for tiden i Trondheim.
I utstillingen BEVEGELSE-TURBULENS tar Bishnoi utgangspunkt i to vann reservoar (Bellandur og Varthur) i Bangalore i India, som har blitt utsatt for sterk forurensing og dermed utviklet store mengder skum. Et skum som på et tidspunkt tok fyr i 2015 og skapet voldsomme branner i vannet. Både de store mengdene skum og brannene var en påminnelse om miljøgiftene som var der.
Endringene som Bangalore gjennomgår kan bli beskrevet som turbulent, likt turbulensen man finner i de av gamle menneskeskapte vann reservoarene som preger bybildet med hundretalls av innsjøer. Det som har vært på bunnen er på vei til overflaten, det som lå på overflaten synker og det som lå i dikene dras til midten, om igjen og om igjen, i en evig bevegelse.

To the Borewell Taal del i prosessenes bevegelse.
Ved å fokuserer på de mange lagene av påvirkningskraft, finner vi det motstandsdyktige, det resistente og det uberørte, -det standhaftige i økologi, infrastruktur og ideen om en urban utvikling.
Med utgangspunkt i dette ser Bishnoi utover vannets bredder og stiller spørsmål ved samfunnets strategier for samhandling både lokalt rundt vann reservoarene -og i globale samfunnsnettverk.
Prerna Bishnois kunstpraksis er videobaser. I sine videoverk tar hun opp ideene om den kollektive massens synergier som påvirker hvordan man praktisk forholder seg til grenser, ansvar og eierskap. Hun ser forbi politiske føringer og tar utgangspunkt i hvordan man som gruppe utvikler seg på bakgrunn av at samfunn konstant er i endring og må møte de utfordringene som ligger forut for politisk handlekraft.
Prerna Bishnoi ser til fiksjonen, og er inspirert av samfunnsutvikling i spill og litteratur. Hun ser til digitale nettverk og globalisering. Er det i denne sfæren vi kan bekjempe klimaendring?

Prerna Bishnoi comes from India, she has an MFA from the art academy in Trondheim, NTNU and a diploma in digital video production from Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore. She currently lives and works in Trondheim.
In the exhibition CHURNING, Bishnoi works with two lakes (tanks), Bellandur and Varthur, in Bangalore, India that have spectacular (toxic) foam floating on them. Foam that caught fire in 2015. Both the foam and the fire are strong visual reminders of the state of pollution.
The current state of transition in the developing city of Bangalore and around its centuries-old system of inter-connected man-made lakes, can be best described as ‘churning’: what has sunk to the bottom riles up, what is banished to the peripheries scurries inwards, what was floating on top, loses buoyancy, and is sucked downwards, and on and on, in continuous, repeated and re-forming, vigorous motions.
Located in and around the flows of water in Bellandur and Varthur ‘Lake’s, the projects ‘Surface Tension’ and ‘To the Borewell Taal’ documentand participate in this process of churning.
They focus on a multitude of actors – the unperturbed, the resisters, the resisted and the resilient – that compose the infrastructure and imagination of urban development.
With this, Bishnoi tries to think and act with and beyond the waters to explore strategies and restrictions of commoning in local and global networks of communities.
Prerna Bishnois artpractise are videobased. In her videowork she brings up the idea the synergies of the collective mass which interfere with our relations to borders, resposebility and ownership. She looks beond politics and looks to how sosiety constantly are changing and has to find its own structure to face challenge ahed of political action.
Prerna Bishnoi sees to fiction and are inspired by community developement in games and litterature. She also sees to digital communities and globalisation. Is it in this landscape we can find the kay to fighting climate change?
